Welcome to the Blog Section
Well, I’ve finally worked a bit with WordPress and set myself up a blogging section on my site as well, which was actually the original goal when I grabbed the gamertagged.net domain. In the future I may change to something that isn’t WordPress, but for now this should do.
For those of you not familiar with my blogging, you can expect a lot of posts on video games, as well as the occasional touch into other topics. I am also very verbose in my opinions, but at the very least try and write them out well. Hopefully many of you will find what I have to say entertaining at the very least.
The typical post will have an accompanying image to represent the entry’s category. This is so it will be easier to remember which category to search later, if you ever want to link or reference the entry a few months down the line (and I guarantee I’ll be updating this part of the site much more often than the comic). If a topic has a little bit of reference to other categories, though, they will likely be listed as well. The image will represent the primary topic category, however.
The following images represent each category, respectively:
Video Games
The generic video games discussion, where it doesn’t necessarily fit in any of the subcategories, though it may touch on some of those subjects. This will most likely appear when I haven’t completed a game enough to have reviewed it, but still wish to discuss its merits or flaws anyway. It may also be used when I want to discuss various games or news items in one post.
Video Games - Game Design and Development
I am one of many who have had dreams of becoming a game designer, and therefore have something to say on the topic every so often. When I want to discuss ideas I have or my opinions on development methods, then it will be under this category.
Video Games - Games Industry
Similar to design and development, but focuses on more than just the studios. Also focuses on review sites and magazines, and anything regarding video games in the corporate world.
Video Games - Reviews
This is likely going to be a common image you see, as I love to discuss my thoughts on games after playing them. I will be using the Official Wii60 Review System that I helped develop there, one whose intention is to break away from the horribly flawed system used today. You can see my most recent review of the Penny Arcade game here. Also, if you are wondering why I selected the image that I did, it is because IGN is a commonly referred to site for game reviews, yet I think of them as a bunch of jack asses. That image confers that idea well.
Television and Film
I like to see movies and watch television just as much as anybody. Oddly enough, I tend to be very critical of films, while at the same time being very forgiving for the most simple things. For example, I wasn’t much impressed with the new Indiana Jones film, but I absolutely loved The One. Go figure.
Novels and Literature
I’ve found myself coming back to reading books again, though I can’t really enjoy reading anything that isn’t above average. I can’t read just another fantasy novel, or a pulpy piece based on Vampire: The Masquerade. However, I also cannot abandon my geeky love for sci-fi and fantasy. So you’ll often find my opinions on new books that I get to read.
Society
The most uncommon of categories you’ll find, I’m sure. Everyone gets pissed at people for being stupid. However, sometimes I find society is just being way too self-destructive or ignorant for its own good, and can’t keep my mouth shut.
So that’s pretty much what to expect from my blog in a nutshell. I’m sure categories will be added in time, but that should cover it for the most part. Hope you guys enjoy what you read here.
