Welcome to GameLandEtc., another webcomic about gaming nerds and their zany adventures. It is an additional distraction to my already existing gaming blog.

When it comes to writing first strips, you are introduced with a pretty big challenge. Typically, by the time you get to writing, you already have fleshed out the characters and ideas enough that they need no introduction for you. Unfortunately, you still need to introduce them, and the tone of the comic, to readers. The only major comic that has done this well, as far as I'm aware, is Something Positive's first strip.

While I had this idea as a first strip swimming around in my head for a while, it wasn't until well after I developed the characters that I sat down to write it. The trouble wasn't figuring out the roles of the characters in the strip, but in figuring out how to not put too much into a single comic. In retrospect, it would have been nice to remember actually putting the names of the other two characters in there.

The most important idea to convey, however, is that the comic's primary goal may be to provide humor, but there is something deeper to the characters here. I will leave it for the readers to identify and analyze, but when readers start seeing dramatic storylines or comic strips without punchlines, they won't feel disappointed or ripped off. From the get go I tried to make it apparent that there is more than jokes going on here, and I hope that you, the reader, enjoy what I do with the characters.

Thank you for reading my comic, and I hope you enjoy it to the end.
