    The good thing about the Internet is talented and intelligent people that would otherwise be unheard get a place to express their thoughts or creativity.

    The bad thing is most people are assholes at heart. Even if they hide under the guise of being intelligent, they will take anyone that tries to make a serious, well heard message and turn it into a joke (see 4chan and certain instances of Something Awful).
