Gendered Hiring

It wasn't until after I completed this strip that I realized how bad it looks to be calling three women "not competent" at being gamers. It wasn't my intent to be sexist, but it just turned out that way.

The strip was more a reaction to the shocking number of sudden female employees that appeared a bit after I stopped working at GameStop. During my time there a store was lucky to have one female employee, and suddenly I'd be seeing two women working a single shift together in one store.

However, this is also the period that employees were becoming incompetent. I'd have workers screwing up my reservation and feeding me misinformation regularly, and it frustrated me to no end. When I interviewed there, what mattered was your gaming habits. I came back when I was unemployed, and all they cared about was whether you could sell games and systems and accessories or not.
