As I’ve done on other forums in years past, I’ve begun compiling a list of Black Friday highlights in the world of video games. Said list can be seen here on our forums, a vastly under-used hub of communication. I will frequently be updating the contents with sales information as I go along.
The highlights thus far are Toys ‘R’ Us and Best Buy, who seem to have the best deals. My recommendation is get your friends together, split into two teams and take on Best Buy and Toys ‘R’ Us together. That way if there is a game you want at store A but can’t get to because you are at store B, you can just give the cash to your pal and have them pick it up for you. And vice versa.
Highlights of Toys ‘R’ Us are Halo 3: ODST, Forza Motorsport 3 and Need For Speed: Shift for $34.99, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days and Dead Space Extraction for $24.99 and a wired X-Plorer Guitar Hero controller for $9.99 (available now).
Highlights of Best Buy are Brutal Legend, Dragon Age: Origins, Left 4 Dead 2 and Need For Speed: Shift for $34.99, Resident Evil 5, Chronicles of Riddick and Fallout 3 for $19.99, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for $9.99 and a Playstation 3 120GB console with Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank for $299.
Amazon.com is also running a countdown to Black Friday with a brand new game deal each day. I imagine on Black Friday they’ll have a much larger list of sales available.
Keep an eye on the forums as Black Friday gets closer, as I’ll be posting more sales from stores like Wal-Mart (whom I’d suggest avoiding no matter what on Black Friday) and GoGamer.com as that dreaded day of consumer horror nears.
