If you’ve been paying attention to the Internet, then you might notice that the entire fanbase of Sonic the Hedgehog has been in love with Sonic Mania and really brutal to Sonic Forces. I haven’t played the former myself, but Sonic Forces is certainly the first Sonic game I’ve played from start to finish and enjoyed. Granted, that’s also because it is the only Sonic game I’ve ever played through from start to finish.

As a result, I don’t have enough to comment on it critically – at least not in comparison to other Sonic games – but I think I have a slightly better understanding of what it is that draws people to the franchise. In the end there’s nothing really quite like it. Despite the hour-long timestamp, however, there’s a lot of things Steve and I didn’t really get to touch on. Perhaps I’ll try some more Sonic games, however, and he and I can return to the topic in the future. I’d like to try my hand at early Sonic games again, or at the very least Sonic Mania, and see what else I can glean from this fascinating franchise.

Were you also a secret fan of Sonic Forces? Or do you think Steve and I are total idiots? Feel free to tell us in the comments below, comment on the Facebook page or e-mail ramblepak64 at gmail dot com.

Opening theme music by my buddy Brandon, a.k.a. Fallen Prophecy.
