There are some metal bands that take themselves way too seriously. While the concept of demon slaying and dragon fire is all fun and awesome, there are few ways to execute such imagery in a five minute song without coming off as cheesy. Hammerfall, however, revels in the cheesiness. They aren’t there to make a serious point, they exist to write good music and have fun. This spirit is reflected no better than most of their music videos. When you watch you can just imagine the guys sitting around a table saying “Hey, you know what would be awesome...”

What is perhaps most interesting about the band is that they began as a simple side project, but erupted into a huge and popular force. The early albums have the sound of 80’s metal while the most recent ones have taken a sound all their own, focusing on energy, melody and rhythm working in a great unison. Ultimately, there is so little to hate about Hammerfall that all you can do is love them.

Besides, how can you hate a band that sticks a Xenomorph into the music video?
